Dear Sir,

We found our impatience and our circumstances such as to deprive us of the pleasure of visiting you.  We set out this evening on our return home.  I write both for Mr. Clay and myself, and beg you accept our sincere acknowledgements for your kindness and hospitality.

                                                                 Very respectfully,

Yours truly,
                                                                 J. J. Crittenden
